  1. Thanks for a great plugin that is allowing a lot of customisation to our car club website.
    Once option I’m trying to find (it may be there but I’m blind) is the ability to change;

    .main-navigation .current-menu-item > a,
    .main-navigation .current-menu-ancestor > a,
    .main-navigation .current_page_item > a,
    .main-navigation .current_page_ancestor > a {
    color: #yourcolor;
    font-weight: bold;
    }

If you use one of the menus that links to a page when the page is current the menu appears as the standard green and I wish to change it to yellow, which I have been able to do with the help of your plugin except for this.
Appreciate all the effort you have done. Awesome plugin for a great template.
    Kind regards,
    Jason

    1. Hello Jason,

Thanks for picking up on that – it was totally missed out.

I’ve updated the plugin to include the controls for that now, you should be getting an update nag very shortly in your dashboard.

      Regards,
      Zulf

      1. Unreal can’t wait!

The other issue I have is the “Reset” for Styles doesn’t appear to work. I would love to nuke it once the new version comes along.

        1. I wasn’t aware of the issue on the Reset function – I hadn’t even used it personally. Thanks for reporting it.

I’ll have to check with the guys that built the parent plugin and see if they have a solution on it.

    1. Hello Sharon,

First of all let me say I’m sorry that has happened – it is not the normal behavior or the expected one. Thank you for reporting this.

Although I’ve updated my installs and have not had that issues, the fact that its happened then its a bug that has to be fixed. I’m going to test more thoroughly before pushing an update out (these will be very few and far in between now) or put a data preservation setting in place.

      Zulf

      1. Thank you for responding. The good news is that when I re-enter the styles they hold.

I love the styles plugins and use them on several sites on all the themes. Am I likely to find the same problem on other sites if I update the plugin?

Because of Styles, I have migrated away from Thesis.

        1. No problem at all Sharon – glad we are back on track.

But in all honesty that problem should not have happened as the parent plugin was fixed to cover that scenario. I’m being assured that the only time settings would be lost is when the plugin is deactivated and “uninstalled/deleted” which is not the same process with updates.

I’m going to run more tests to 100% sure that the issue won’t reoccur before sending out the next update – I believe we’ve pretty much covered every element so far so there shouldn’t be any need for update unless if we need to fix some bugs, security and future WordPress core update compatibility issues.

          Regards,
          Zulf

  2. Hello, thank you for a great plugin!

I was going to ask if you were intending to help with RTL languages. It’s my understanding that RTL.css is already available to replace the styles.css that is in the twentyfourteen theme, I just don’t know how to “flip” it.

Apparently quite a bit of work has been done on the RTL issue for the 3.8 issue of the theme, however exactly how to flip from left to right over to the right to left leaves me baffled.

Will you be integrating this into your plugin?

Thank you for your work on a great theme!.

    1. Hello Marcus,

Thank you for bringing that up – its something I never thought of and it definitely be of great help if we can get that option in.

Added to the TODO list and will be taking a closer look at it when work on v1.2.4 kicks off officially next week.

      Regards,
      Zulf

      1. Zulf,

Please hear me correctly, I am not sure if the twentyfourteen team will be including RTL support in the next version of the theme, or if this type of “option” really is better on the plugin level.

I don’t have access to the team to ask the question. Before you spend time on the next version, please do check!

Thank you for your prompt reply!

        Marcus

    1. Could you be more specific as to what is not working?

Was the plugin installed and working prior to updating to 3.9? If yes then in what way has it stopped working?

      Thanks,
      Zulf

  3. Hello – Any information on when the “Styles” plug-in will be compatible with the WP Twenty Fourteen theme? I am concerned about the fact that “Styles” says it is only compatible up to WP 3.7.1, as well. Advice, ideas?

    1. Hello,

As far as I’m aware, even though the compatibility tag is 3.7.1 the plugin is compatible with both the current version of WordPress and the Twenty Fourteen theme. I’m currently running it on a 3.9.1-alpha install and I’ve had no issues – Have tried the combination out and not had any luck with them working together?

      Regards,
      Zulf

  4. Hi Zulf,

I am completely new to WP, having just installed 3.9.1 with twenty fourteen. I have added fourteen extended which resolves all my limitations with 2014. Thank you so much for this plugin!

I have tried to install Styles: TwentyFourteen and I get the following:

Styles is almost ready! To add theme options for Twenty Fourteen, please install Styles: Twenty Fourteen.

when I try to install Styles: Twenty Fourteen, I get:

    Destination folder already exists.
    Plugin install failed.

I have deleted the existing styles-twentyfourteen directory and reinstalled it with no change in result.

    Any ideas?

    max

    1. Hello Max,

There were some issues with the Parent plugin: Styles which I believe have now been resolved – could you try installing the latest version of Styles to see if the issue is resolved for you?

      Regards,
      Zulf

      1. Hi Zulf,

Thank you for the reply. I was already using the latest (I think) versions: Styles 1.1.8, Fourteen Extended 1.2.3.1 and Styles Twenty Fourteen 1.0.2.

I deactivated and deleted all 3, then I reinstalled in the same order as above with the exact same result.

Thank you for trying to resolve this issue.

        max

        1. Thanks for the info Max – give me a little while to go through the tests and see where we are failing or can improve on to make your use experience that much better šŸ™‚

  5. It looks great, but after making all the changes, and clicking “Save & Publish”, all the changes are gone when I look at the site. I tried uninstalled twenty fourteen extended and twenty fourteen colors thinking they were interfering, but it’s still happening. Any ideas?

  6. Hi there… my issue is that no matter what I change, when I click on “Save and Publish”, the button changes to “saved” as expected, but none of the changes are actually changed when I view the website. Am I possibly missing something?

    1. Not sure what is going on there but I’ve just tested with all three (Styles, Styles: TwentyFourteen & Fourteen-Extended) active with no issues at all.

The best advice I can afford you for now is to deactivate all other plugins and only have the above three mentioned plugins and then test to see if the issue persists. If the issue is resolved then proceed to reactivate the other plugins one by one while checking which one is causing the issue to come back.

Let me know if non of the above actions make any different and will take a further look in to it for you.

      Zulf

      1. Zulf,

Ok, I found the culprit :
        MailChimp for WordPress Lite

I never suspected that one would interfere, so I never tried deactivating it until your directions… with that one disabled, the changes saved normally. So in the meantime, I will just deactivate MailChimp when I want to update styles, save, and then turn MailChimp back on.

        1. Glad we caught the culprit – will take a look at the code structure to see what in the plugin(s) would cause the conflict with the hope of either fixing it from this end or ask the MailChimp plugin author to address the issue.

          Zulf

  7. Hi this is very close to what I’m looking for but one thing I’d like to be able to do is align the two sidebars vertically ie the primary and content sidebar. They’re slightly out by a few pixels I guess.. I’ve tried altering style.css manually but can’t seem to find the right element to change within the style sheet..

    1. If you can provide a link to the site I’ll be able to look at the code and offer you assistance as to what needs changing/adjusting to achieve the desired effect.

  8. hello, i don’t have the mailchimp plugin installed and I am still not seeing changes after I hit save and publish. my stats are:

    Styles: TwentyFourteen: Version 1.0.2
    Styles: Version 1.1.8
    Fourteen Extended: Version 1.2.31

    1. For a little more reference here is my site: thesocialolive.com

On this page and pages like it : http://thesocialolive.com/services/public-relations/ – I want the title or header to measure 45px and be the pink color you see.

However, on my blog page: http://thesocialolive.com/category/resources-the-stacks/ – I don’t want the titles of the posts to be this big, I’d like them to be about 30px. In the customization menu I can make this work but when I save and publish only the headers of the blog posts change to 45px, the other titles stay at 30px and black.

  9. Thanks for the great work! A few questions for my situation.

    1) Is there any way to export all the changes made on one site for use on another site?

    2) Is there an easy way to move the changes to a child theme?

    3) What database tables and entries are central to changes with this tool?

    Cheers,
    Stephen

    1. Hello Stephen,

      Thanks for your queries.

      1) The simplest way to export/import the changes is to use this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/customizer-export-import/
      2) No easy way other than viewing the source code and copying the code to the child theme’s style.css.
      3) Not sure I follow but as a thumb of rule themes and plugins should not be changing anything in the database unless it is strictly required – having said that, the plugin works with the theme_mod function and stored per theme in options table.

      Hope that helps,
      Zulf

  10. Hello,

I see this thread might be old.

    1. Where is the zip for Fourteen Extended 1.2.3.1?

I have an issue with Fourteen Extended 1.2.3 with the featured posts not possible to change the ASC – DESC sorting according to date (default).

I believe this is solved in version Fourteen Extended 1.2.3.1. I’m not sure where to get it but I was thinking of downloading the master from GitHub.

    2. I get similar to above message when I want to change the theme a “Styles is almost ready! To add theme options for Twenty Fourteen, please install Styles: Twenty Fourteen.”

How am I supposed to install the plugins, any special order?
Fourteen Extended 1.2.3.1, Styles 1.1.9 and Styles Twenty Fourteen 1.0.2.

    1. Hi Again,

I found the link to read newer posts.

      2. I saw that “MailChimp for WordPress Lite” would interfere.
I disabled it and now the yellow is gone.
Is there an alternative to “MailChimp for WordPress Lite” or a way to fix this?
I was planning on using this for signup for mail-lists.

      Per

      1. Sorry for the delay in responding @Per.

This is something I need to have a closer look at together with the Styles plugin author to see where exactly is the issue and how we can best resolve it.

Going to initiate the discussion and will post back on the issue as soon as I can, thank you for understanding and for your patience.

        Regards,
        Zulf
